ARTISTS STATEMENT:

Light is at the core of any good photograph; it is a source of beauty, of energy, and emotion. For me, chasing light has become a journey of discovery on multiple levels. As a photographer, I am always seeking out the beauty that only light can create. But there is more to it than that; I have come to realise that the journey is even more meaningful than the photographs. It has become a spiritual quest, an inner journey in search of balance between myself and my surroundings.

When I was first starting out as a photographer, I was mainly focused on capturing the beauty of nature. But as time went on, I began to realise that there was something much deeper to this process than simply taking pictures. It’s deeply spiritual—a way of connecting with something larger than ourselves.

The thing about light is that it can be both calming and energising. It has the power to take us out of our everyday lives and bring us into the moment—if we allow it. That’s why it is so important to take the time to really appreciate its presence and what it has to offer. In those moments of stillness, when we are able to truly connect with nature and its elements, we can find a sense of peace within ourselves that is often hard to find elsewhere.

When chasing light, I look for scenes that are both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally resonant. Nature provides beautiful backdrops for this exploration, from breathtaking landscapes to small details. Capturing these moments through photography helps me appreciate their beauty in ways that words cannot express.

Chasing light is an ongoing journey—one filled with awe-inspiring beauty, inner peace, and spiritual growth. Through my photography practice, I have learned how important it is not just to observe but also to appreciate the natural world around us and all the gifts it has in store for us all.”

About the artist:

Angela Carrasco was born in Latin America but has called Australia home for the past decade. She became fascinated with photography thanks to her early studies in visual arts, which gave her a different point of view and allowed her to pursue an interest in film, lighting, and image composition, which gives her photos a unique aesthetic.

Angela has always had a knack for storytelling; as a lifestyle photographer, she strives to capture the story behind every photograph.

Angela loves telling stories through her work, whether it's for personal or professional projects. She believes that the moments in between are what matter the most, and it's about the bigger picture and journey as a whole.
